Company Overview

The Countywide Recycling and Disposal Facility is a municipal solid waste landfill with a total of 818 acres. 258 of the 818 acres of property are permitted for the actual disposal of waste.  The remainder of the site is for retention ponds, buffer areas, and future expansion.

The Countywide Recycling and Disposal Facility is the proud recipient of the year 2000 National Landfill Excellence Gold Award from the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA)The award is presented annually to recognize outstanding performance in operation, design, efficiency, and overall integrated solid waste management systems.     

The Countywide Recycling and Disposal Facility is operated in a manner that protects public health and the environment.  In addition to the landfill operation, the facility has a bioremediation operation for recycling of petroleum-contaminated solids, a composting area for yard waste, and a public drop off area for recyclables.

The site is owned and operated by Republic Services, Inc., a leading provider of services in the domestic non-hazardous solid waste industry.  Republic provides non-hazardous solid waste collection services for commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential customers through 400 collection companies in 40 states and Puerto Rico. Republic also owns or operates 242 transfer stations, 213 solid waste landfills, and 79 recycling facilities.

Republic serves millions of residential customers under terms of contract with more than 1,200 municipalities for waste collection and residential services. We also serve some commercial customers throughout our expansive service area. The total number of residential and commercial customers that Republic serves is approximately 5.5 million.
